ZebraPhysics

There is a website. I made it for class!

http://zebraphysics.synthasite.com/

If you have time, feel free to click around and let me know what you think. Any suggestions? Anything missing? Any issues you think might come up?

Also, let me know if you are setting up a website for the semester...

Thanks to Laura K. for broadcasting the synthasite on her blog!

Love your site! I particularly liked the links you put up. Will you send home the link so the parents can look too or is it just geared towards the students?

I am working on making my own but I am a bit slow on the uptake when it comes to making things organized. I miss the days of old where I remembered my HTML and could do it all from scratch.

I prefer others do my HTML magic for me...

I wouldn't mind the parents stopping by to see what the kids are doing and knowing that there is no excuse for not knowing what is due (I plan on posting all that stuff). but, it's not really intended for parents.

Dan!! I have also been trying to create a class website through synthasite...I think it is such a good resource and really interactive for the students. I am having a little trouble with figuring out how to make one for both of my classes, but I will figure it out eventually. Good job on the website and I am sure your students will get use out of it.

How is the site working out for you? Have you used Quizstar yet? I like the widgets page--lots of options to add new information. I think the design is pleasing and it is so easy to navigate. Let us know what your students/parents think.

well, almost half of my kids are baffled by the website and most aren't looking at the google calendar i put up. mostly this is b/c of internet access issues, so i've decided to take my classes down to the library for about 1/2 a class once-twice a week. the quizstar idea has the same issues, and they are not excited about taking a quiz on the weekend. i think i'll activate the quizzes during times that i take them down to the library.

i guess i should have taken them down and introduced them to the website and quizstar the 1st day. i assumed that most of them would be internet-savy... which was a bad assumption as it turned out.

Hey Dan
The whiteboard doesn't take up that much room if you get one permanently installed in your room. It just goes in place of the board already there and then you just need a projector. The one I saw that came with software had "tools" to use for each subject area, so physics would have its own folder with pre-made ideas. For example, the math folder had an interactive compass and ruler that could take measurements. It's hard to explain I guess without seeing it. But it's cool, trust me.
